“The 5i12 Prize 2017 is awarded to the journalist and author Alexandra Pascalidou for her fight against xenophobia and racism and for human dignity. Despite hate and threats from right-wing groups, she has been a strong voice for decades and has demonstrated great courage and compassion. Alexandra Pascalidou has made great efforts both as a journalist and as an author. She is also an important voice for the conditions in the suburbs and, through her knowledge and strong commitment, has become a force, a role model and an example for vulnerable groups.”
